Preliminary statistics indicate that 12 people died in 12 separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways from Monday, Aug. 27, through Monday, Sept. 3.
Seven of the victims were traveling in motor vehicles and five were not wearing seat belts. Single fatality crashes occurred in Fayette, Floyd, Hardin, Jefferson, Laurel, Madison and Metcalfe counties. The crash in Laurel County involved the use of alcohol.
Two fatalities were the result of motorcycle crashes, one in Jefferson County and one in Rowan County. The victim in Rowan County was not wearing a helmet.
