Eagles, Cardinals, Lady Eagles post wins, Lady Cards keep it close

Freshman A.J. Vaught put together back-to-back double-point efforts (16 and 15, respectively) as Campbellsville High School bested Metcalfe County 70-41 on Saturday and 53-49 at Burgin on Tuesday.
Vaught was joined in double figures by Bradley Bates’ 12 on Saturday while Damontez Smith totaled 13 at Burgin.

Cards crush Washington 61-33

Caleb Wigginton scored 28 points and Quentin Goodin had 13 points and double figures in assists as Taylor County pummeled visiting Washington County 61-33 on Tuesday night.
Taylor County used a 16-3 second frame to lead by 19 (29-10) at the intermission.
Wigginton had eight points in each of the first two frames while Goodin had eight of his in the third period.

Lady Eagles split early-week tilts
Campbellsville lost at Bethlehem on Monday before bouncing back to knock off Fort Knox at home on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles led 39-29 in the fourth quarter at Bethlehem, but saw the Banshees tally the game’s final 24 points.
Overshadowed in the loss was senior Heather Watson’s 28-point night.
Watson came back with 25 points and eight rebounds vs. Fort Knox while fellow senior Graison Biggs totaled 10 points.

Commanderettes hold off Lady Cards
Washington County out-pointed Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals 15-9 in the last six minutes to thwart the home squads’ upset bid on Tuesday night.
Rachel Shoemaker set up Makayla Sabo to knot the score at 41-41 before Washington County used five of Kenya Turner’s 28 points, one of Riquel Logan’s four treys and free throws down the stretch to hold off TCHS’ rally. (Washington County was 4-8 at the charity stripe in the final quarter after making two of its first 11.)
Taylor County did connect on nine three-pointers, including four by Shelby Johnson, and were led in scoring by Haley Wright’s 17 points.
