Taylor Regional Hospital, along with other national, state and community organizations, are leading a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance health care decision-making - an effort that has culminated in the formal designation of Wednesday, April 16 as National Healthcare Decisions Day.

As a participating organization, Taylor Regional Hospital is providing information and tools for the public to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, and execute written advance directives (health care power of attorney and living will) in accordance with Kentucky state laws. These resources are available at www.nationalhealthcaredecisionday.org.

Although several states have engaged in advance directives awareness events and numerous organizations have devoted substantial time and money to improving education about advance healthcare planning, only a small minority of Americans have executed an advance directive. National Health care Decisions Day seeks to address this issue by focusing attention on advance health care planning from a variety of directions simultaneously.

Specifically, on April 16 from 11 a.m. to noon, Taylor Regional Hospital is inviting the community to a free informational session to discuss advance care planning and advance directive forms. The class will be at the TRH Learning & Resource Center located at 125B Kingswood Drive in Campbellsville. Jon Hieneman, local attorney, will be the guest speaker.

If you have questions about this free class or would like to register to attend, call the Taylor Regional Hospital Learning & Resource Center at 789-5862.
