Tomorrow is "Giving Tuesday" to benefit charities, non-profits

-A A +A

The CKNJ wants to know your plans

Fed up with the commercial side of Christmas? Here’s a holiday idea that’s less commercial. It’s called “Giving Tuesday,” a national event that’s emerging to highlight generosity.

Instead of spending hundreds at retailers, consumers are encouraged to donate money to their favorite charitable cause or non-profit.

The inaugural event counters the post-Thanksgiving sale-abrations of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Charitable groups hope thousands will participate in tomorrow’s first-ever observance.

In addition to the obvious benefits for charities, those who donate may be eligible for end-of-the-year tax deductions.

What do you think?

The CKNJ wants to hear about your generosity. Do you plan to help? To what organization will you give? And if you work for a non-profit or charitable organization, please tell us about your needs for the holiday season.
