Today marks a new venture for me: blogging for my local newspaper. I've blogged for many years for the far reaches on the globe, but never for my beloved Taylor County. I'm excited about this new journey. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Andrea Giordano, and I've been a Campbellsville resident for 13 years now, ever since I first walked on Campbellsville University's campus as a wide-eyed freshman. Throughout my time as an undergraduate student, I discovered a passion for teaching, travel, and ministry. Since graduating from Campbellsville, I earned a Master's of Education with an empasis in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Langauges), and have been teaching international students English for six years. I am now the Assistant Director for ESL Programs at Campbellsville University, where I have the opportunity to impact international students every day. I absolutely love my job. A few years ago, I wanted to expand my sphere of influence in teaching, so I launched ESLbasics.com, a video-centered English language teaching website, where I post short videos, explaining vocabulary to English language learners. My husband Mike and I have an adorable son named North, and we call the Vineyard Campbellsville Church home.
In this blog, I plan on giving you insight on what it's like to teach the world. Every day, new challenges and new opportunities face me as I guide students into learning English. Cultural connections are built and genuine learning takes place. Join me as we teach the world!
