Taylor County Middle School recognized eighth-grade students during an award and promotion ceremony on May 21. Many students were honored by subject, for maintaining a 4.0 GPA for all three years of middle school and an outstanding eighth-grader was named.
Receiving reading awards were Lucian Gribbins, Madison Bishop, Fayth Wise and Gabby Coomer. Andie Woodcox, Emma Miles, Austin Malone, Kaitlyn Lee, Lydia Epperson and Morgan Benningfield received writing awards.
U.S. history awards went to Lexie Edelen and Kaitlyn Lee. Kaitlyn Lee and Martin Vasquez received arts and humanities awards. Chelsea Carroll received the accelerated art award.
Pre-algebra awards went to Rachel Martin, Rebecca Bladen and Andie Woodcox. Accelerated Algebra I awards were given to Lexie Edelen and Belinda Cheng.
Shawn Park received the accelerated geometry and accelerated algebra II awards.
Students receiving the academic excellence award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout their middle school career include Chloe Benningfield, Carly Bland, Belinda Cheng, Mariah Cox, Lexie Edelen, Bryana Edrington, Tyler Franklin, Olivia Langston, Madison Lauer, Kaitlybn Lee, Emma Miles, Ivy Neal, Rylen Smith, Martin Vasquez, Roger Witham and Andrea Woodcox.
The outstanding eighth-grader award went to Madison Lauer.
