TCMS eighth-grade students receive awards

Weston Young was named Outstanding Eighth-Grader during the Taylor County Middle School Eighth-Grade Promotion and Awards Ceremony recently at TCMS.

Young is the son of Troy and Shelly Young. He also received the Honors Accelerated Algebra II Award, the Social Studies Award and was recognized for academic excellence for maintaining a 4.0 GPA for the entirety of middle school.

Sara Giles received the William Neal Award for creative promise in literature.

Matti Blakeman, Tori Daugherty, Faith Gaddis, Bailey Marlow, Will Miller, Rachel Myers, Ashley Peterson, Lexi Raikes, Elizabeth Rogers, Landon Simmons, Ashley Smith, Hayley Watson and Lauren Williams also were recognized for academic excellence for maintaining a 4.0 GPA during their middle school career.

Megan Canada, Rachel Myers and Hayley Watson received recognition for perfect attendance for grades kindergarten through eighth.

Other students receiving awards were: reading - Samantha Hughes, Evan Davis, McKenzie Carney and Marcus Moore; writing - Sara Giles, Hunter Sallee, Ashley Smith, Gabriel Sharp and Hayley Watson; pre-algebra - Raymond Goldsmith, Landon Simmons and Landon Thompson; Honors Accelerated Algebra I - Cole Frazier and Faith Gaddis; Honors Accelerated Geometry - Will Miller; AP Human Geography - Will Miller; Social Studies Survey - Collin Watson; Science Concepts - Elizabeth Rogers; Honors English I - Hayley Watson; Honors English II - Rachel Myers and Elizabeth Rogers; Spanish I - Faith Gaddis; Accelerated Art - Hunter Sallee and Paige Richard; and Arts and Humanities - Cole Frazier and Hayley Watson.
