Campbellsville University cheerleading will add some local flavor to its 2012-13 squad with the signing of Taylor County High student/athlete Kasandra Richerson.
Richerson cheered seven years for the Cardinals, and cheered at TCHS with fellow CU cheerleader, sophomore Rachel Clements.
“It’s always nice to have local talent join our team,” said CU Cheer Coach Vanessa Adkins.
Richerson, the daughter of Mike and Lorie Richerson, is undecided on a major.
The Tiger cheerleaders have won four of the past six Mid-South Conference titles and also claimed the all-girl and mixed stunt routines at the MSC Cheer Competition last March in Frankfort.
Joining Richerson will be Amanda Alsbrooks, South Laurel High School; Tiffany  Callahan, Lebanon, Ohio; Madison Heiskell, Bardstown; Katelyn Chalk, Franklin County; Candice Boone, Bardstown, Nelson County; Shelly Dewar, Conner; Makayla Asher, Pulaski County; Jackie Elswick, Louisville Butler; Kelsee Molen, Pulaski County High; and Jordan Troxtel, Southwestern.
Returning cheerleaders include: Emma Calvert, senior, Scottsville; Makayla Jessie, senior, Edmonton; Brittany Coontz, senior Danville; Alexa Moore, junior, Clarksville, Tenn.; Samantha Vanhoose, senior, Flatwoods; Audrey Wunderlich, junior Frankfort; Rachel Clements, sophomore, Campbellsville; Morgan Cubert, sophomore, Lawrenceburg; Courtney Drury, sophomore, Lawrenceburg; Joe Blakestone, senior, Elizabethtown; and Ashley Bates, sophomore, Greenup.
“We have a strong nucleus returning, and with the addition of these freshmen we’re continuing to lay the foundation for future success,” Adkins concluded.
