Taylor County High School's Cardinal Financial Center had its grand opening on Sept. 25, and more than 60 accounts were opened.
Taylor County Bank, Citizens Bank & Trust Co., Forcht Bank and United Citizens Bank sponsor the center.
Many guests were in attendance, including several local figures and representatives from all four sponsoring banks.
The center offers students and teachers the opportunity to open savings accounts, CDs and get loans.
The school bank not only benefits the customers, but also the 14 student employees. As staff members at the center, they learn about applying for jobs, proper interview preparation and etiquette, are taught to make wise financial decisions and given the opportunity to have work experience in a bank.
This year's staff at the center includes Elijah Myers, president; Becca Orberson, chief financial officer; Olivia Burton, vice president of operations; Taylor Agathen, vice president of promotions; Chelsea Duplantis, executive secretary; Caleb Wigginton, public relations director; Caleb Lee, lead teller; Hannah Howard, Haley Wright, Gabby Pyles and Ben Long, tellers; Mary Jo Edrington and Ellen Kehoe, accountants; Andrew Scalos, loan officer; and Patty Rodgers, advisor.
