By Bobby Brockman

Taylor County High School boys fell to junior All-American Luke Kennard and the Franklin City (Ohio) Wildcats in the next-to-last tilt at the King of the Bluegrass Showcase at Fairdale on Saturday.
The Cards suffered their fifth loss in 22 decisions this year as the left-handed Kennard had 45 points, 14-26 from the field with two threes and 15-19 free throws, and 13 rebounds.
Caleb Wigginton paced Taylor County with 25 points and 11 rebounds while Quentin Goodin, like Kennard saddled with first-half foul woes, had 21. Freshman David Sloan totaled 17 points and seven assists.
Taylor County trailed by only two points (44-42) at the half, but were out-scored 25-17 in the third frame. The Cardinals were behind by five (83-78) with 2:09 left in the game, but were out-pointed 13-6 down the stretch.
Taylor County, an undefeated 5-0 vs. district foes, can wrap up the top tourney seed with a win on Friday night at Marion County (6:30/8). The Cardinals will host Cumberland County in a girl (5:00)/boy (6:30) doubleheader on Saturday in next-to-last home games of the season.
