Taylor County scored the game’s first 10 points and then used a 12-3 run down the stretch to post a 51-35 home-court victory over Campbellsville on Friday night in boys’ high school basketball action.
Freshman Quentin Goodin tallied six of the Cardinals’ first 10 points while junior Caleb Wigginton had 19 in the first two-and-half quarters to spark coach Jeff Kidder’s club.
Campbellsville, which won the first match-up 47-44 on Dec. 4, crept within seven twice in the fourth frame. Freshman A.J. Vaught hit a lay-up and senior Bradley Bates two free throws to make it 39-32. But, the Cardinals tallied 12 of the final 15 points for the 16-point cushion.
Wigginton led all scorers with 24 points while Goodin tallied 12.
Vaught led CHS with nine.
Taylor County (8-7 overall and 2-1 in district play) played at Lexington Bryan Station on Saturday while Campbellsville (4-11, 1-3) visited Green County.
