Taylor County High School Marching Band ended its season being named reserve grand champion on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The band traveled to Kings Mill, Ohio, to compete in the Mid-States Band Association Class AAA Championships. The contest was at Kings High School and featured bands from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
In the preliminary competition, the Cardinals placed first, had the best color guard and earned a distinguished rating.
In addition to winning the reserve grand champion trophy in the finals competition, Taylor County received an award for best general effect and earned another distinguished rating.
Their show was entitled "The Ties that Bind" with Chelsea Mehegan as drum major. The band is under the direction of Stephen Bishop.
