Taylor Regional Hospital presents service awards to Auxiliary volunteers

Taylor Regional Hospital Auxiliary volunteers hosted an awards luncheon on Dec. 4 in the TRH meeting room. With 56 workers, the Auxiliary has given a little more than 6,607 volunteer hours in 2007 to assist Taylor Regional Hospital.

Volunteers work at the information desk, surgery department, emergency department, radiology department, cancer center, greeter and gift shop. The Auxiliary also collects canned food items to be donated to the local food pantry as part of its service to the community.

Rachel Dunham and Virgie Gabbert were presented with engraved clocks for 20 years of service. Jane Wheatley, CEO spoke to the group and thanked them for their support and hard work. She also read a short thank you letter from one of the hospital departments.

Pat Webster presented the Volunteer of the Year Award to Muriel Green, who worked 697.5 hours during 2007. Dolly Harris and Helen Rice were recognized as having reached the 1,000 hour mark and will be recognized by having their names added to the "1,000 Hour Club" plaque.

Betty Alexander, nursing services administrator, recognized all members for their service and commitment to the hospital and installed 2008 Officers. New officers are: Margie Leach, president; Dot Jones, first vice president; Dorothy Pierce, second vice president; Pat Webster, treasurer; Julia Judd, secretary; Christine Rogers, corresponding secretary; Sherle Clement, historian; and, Evonne Cox, Auxiliary call person.

200-plus Hours for 2007: Muriel Green, 697.5 hours; Jeanene Vomocil, 311.25 hours; Margie Leach, 278.25; Judy Benningfield, 260.75 hours; Pat Webster, 258.5 hours; Julia Judd, 254.25 hours; Iva Rose Burton, 237.5 hours; Virgie Gabbert, 234 hours; Les Vomocil, 232.5 hours; Sherle Clement, 221.75 hours; and Juanita Basham, 207.5 hours.

Sixteen additional members had 100-plus hours for 2007.
