Taylor County School District has been selected as one of four districts in Kentucky to receive the District of Innovation designation.
The designation sets the district apart and allows some flexibility with state requirements to allow the district to customize education and tailor it to the needs of every student.
In 2012, districts interested in applying for the designation were asked to begin developing applications to eliminate barriers to student success and essentially "waive" state requirements, if approved by the Kentucky Department of Education.
