With just five weeks to go, already more than 1.4 million people are expected to participate in the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday, April 28 at 10:15 a.m.
Taylor County Superintendent Roger Cook says his schools will be participating.
"Preparing our students for an earthquake is a must," he said. "They say it is not a matter of if ... it is a matter of when it is going to happen."
There are now more than 3,500 sites across 11 states that are participating in the drill.
