Nicholas blanks Bullitt Central

By Bobby Brockman

Taylor County made it 10 baseball wins in as many tries with a 6-0 six-inning win over Bullitt Central in the General Classic on Wednesday night at Thomas Nelson.
It was the second straight night the Cardinals had a game halted due to lightning and rain. TCHS led Thomas Nelson on Tuesday before the contest was called in the third inning.
Against Bullitt Central, Taylor County junior Jordan Nicholas scattered six singles and three walks while fanning seven on the mound.
The Cardinal offense used a single, a double and three runs batted in by John Robert Wood and singles from Tyler Frogge, Daniel Carney and Justice Gregory to tally two runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the fifth.
Gregory scored two runs for Taylor County.
Due to the rain-outs and re-arrangement of the tournament schedule, the Cardinals and John Hardin, coached by Greg Gumm who also finished at 3-0, were declared the Classic’s co-champions.
Coach Jeff Gumm’s Cardinals play four games this week on the road during spring break.
TCHS visits Cumberland County on Tuesday, Caverna on Thursday, Casey County on Friday and Wayne County on Saturday.
20th District regular-season play begins next Tuesday (April 15) when the Cardinals play at Campbellsville.
