Taylor County Marching Invitational is Saturday, Oct. 11

Taylor County Marching Invitational will showcase 12 of the state's finest bands on Saturday at Taylor County High School.

The competition will begin with an opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m.

Class A features Cumberland County at 1:45 p.m., Middlesboro at 2 p.m. and Hazard at 2:15 p.m. In Class AA, Metcalfe County performs at 2:30 p.m., Washington County at 2:45, Glasgow at 3 and Green County at 3:15. Class AAA bands Russell County and Garrard County play at 3:45 and 4, respectively. Marion County will play at 4:15 in Class AAAA followed by Boyle County at 4:30. The afternoon's final band will be North Laurel in Class AAAAA at 4:45. Preliminary class awards will be presented at 5 p.m.

The top eight bands, regardless of class, will compete for overall awards in the evening's final competition beginning at 7. Taylor County Marching Cardinals will perform in exhibition at 9 p.m. They will be followed by Campbellsville University's Marching Tigers at 9:15.

Final awards will be presented at 9:30 p.m.

Admission to the invitational is $5. Concessions will be available from the band boosters including hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, ribeye sandwiches, funnel cakes and more.

Taylor County Band is under the direction of Stephen Bishop with Josh Sullivan as field commander. This year's program is titled "Reflections."
