Taylor County man injured in Russell Springs crash

A Taylor County man was injured Thursday in a fatal crash in Russell Springs.

According to a Kentucky State Police report, KSP trooper Kevin Roberts is investigating a collision that occurred at about 6:38 a.m. on KY 80, seven miles east of Russell Springs.

The report states Bacilio C. Salamanca, 66, of Russell Springs, was driving a 2004 Pontiac when he pulled onto KY 80 from KY 76 and into the path of a 2008 Chevy pickup, driven by 52-year-old Scott D. Anderson of Somerset, who was west bound.

Salamanca wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the report states, and was transported to Russell County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, Jose F. Otanendi, 36, of Russell Springs, also wasn't wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jose Hernandez, 25, of Mannsville, and 29-year-old Angel Solis of Russell Springs, also passengers in the Salamanca vehicle, were also not wearing their seat belts and were flown to University of Kentucky Hospital where, at the time of the release, they remained in critical condition.

Anderson was wearing a seatbelt and was treated at Russell County Hospital and released.
