Taylor County School District, in conjunction with the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative, has secured a readiness and emergency management grant through the U.S. Department of Education to update its emergency management plan.
Taylor County Schools will work with local first responders and other community partners to develop an "all-hazards" approach to emergency management. The process will produce a comprehensive, district wide emergency plan as well as individual school plans that are tailored to fit each school's specific needs.
GRREC's REMS grant coordinator Rondal Hammer will work with school officials to assure the plan aligns with new state and national standards.
Training for team members will help guide the process of updating the emergency management plans. As team leader, Taylor County Sheriff Office's School Resource Officer Robbie VanCleave will oversee the implementation of the grant at the district level.
