Summersville man charged with DUI in Taylor County

A Summersville man has been charged with his third DUI offense.

Ronnie Dale Meadows, 37, of 624 Quincy Dobson Road, was arrested Saturday, April 13, at 12:29 a.m.

According to court records, Campbellsville Police Officer Brandon Wilson saw Meadows driving on East Broadway without illuminated headlights.

Records state that, after Wilson began driving behind him, Meadows drove in the middle of both lanes of traffic.

After stopping Meadows, Wilson wrote in court records, he smelled alcohol on him.

Meadows allegedly told Wilson he had consumed a few beers before driving. Meadows failed several field sobriety tests and told Wilson he couldn't do some of them because he is disabled. He refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test.

Records state that a search of Meadows found marijuana in his back pocket and a device used to snort pills.

Meadows was charged with DUI, his third offense, possession of marijuana, buy/possession of drug supplies and improper equipment.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges in Taylor District Court on Monday, April 15. Bond was set at $1,000 cash.

On Wednesday, April 17, bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000 and Meadows was ordered to not drive or consume any alcohol. He was ordered to hire his own attorney, records state, because he owns property.

He is scheduled to appear in court again for a pretrial hearing on Monday, May 13.
