In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Campbellsville Middle School's eighth-grade students and gifted/talented social studies students visited Frankfort to participate in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

After a meal at O'Charley's, they toured the Kentucky History Museum. A live performance, "Nothing New for Easter" inspired by oral history accounts of a boycott staged in 1961, was presented to the group.

Following the performance, students attended the celebration at the museum where Gov. Steve Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear presented awards to the essay and visual arts contest winners.

After the presentation, everyone in attendance was invited to a reception in honor of the award recipients.
