On Nov. 13, Karen Skaggs' second-grade class at Campbellsville Elementary School celebrated reading and testing on more than 1,000 books.

Their goal was to read 1,000 books before Christmas, but students reached their goal before Halloween.

Students were treated to a day that began with breakfast and included snacks and pizza in the afternoon.

Special guests who came to read with the students included Superintendent Diane Woods-Ayers, District Administrative Assistant Rosalind Strong, CES Principal Linda Handley, former CES librarian Susan Davis and volunteer Carrie Matherly.
