Recently, 23 students from Campbellsville Middle School ventured to Louisville to take part in the annual three-day Kentucky Youth Assembly Winter Conference.

This is the largest student in government program in the United States, and it allows students from across Kentucky the chance to debate the current issues facing youth and government.

While at the conference, a bill dealing with the public and private sports issues created by Campbellsville Middle School students Lake Wiseman, Alex Brunelle and Michael Beard was ranked in the top five bills of the 128 bills submitted this year at conference.

Also, Wiseman was recognized as one of 10 outstanding speakers at the conference, which was attended by more than 1,350 middle school students.

CMS Kentucky Youth Assembly sponsors are David Petett and Elise Mohon, eighth and sixth grade social studies teachers.
