STF Custom Stairs, a locally owned manufacturer of custom staircases, MDF cabinet doors and other specialty millwork items, is planning now for growth in 2009.

According to owners Jack Franklin and T.K. Sapp, business is good, even in the current economic environment.

They have purchased a 9,000-square-foot freespan building that will improve their manufacturing workflow. The total capital investment in land, building and improvements will be $195,000. Currently, the company employs eight people.

"STF Custom Stairs is a great example of Taylor County's great entrepreneurial spirit," said Ron McMahan, executive director of Team Taylor County.
