Big Red Madness set for Saturday
Big Red Madness will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 from 6-9 p.m. at Taylor County High School. Doors open at 5:30 for a chili supper with a combined ticket of $5 for the supper and basketball events. (Admission for the basketball event is $3.) Events scheduled will be introduction videos of the 2014-2015 girls’ and boys’ basketball teams (plus shooting, 3-point and dunking contests), performances by the Taylor County Elementary School dance teams, recognizing the 1983 Boys’ Fifth Region championship team and recognizing the middle school boys’ and girls’ basketball squads. All proceeds will be split between the varsity boys’ and girls’ teams.  Tickets are available from any player or coach Clint Graham or coach Richard Gatewood at TCHS.
Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk scheduled for Nov. 15
The Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. at Campbellsville Baptist Church. The race, benefitting Green River Ministries, has a $20 entry fee if registered by Nov. 2. After Nov. 2, the charge is $25 and runners will not be guaranteed a T-shirt. Awards will be given to the first- and second-place finishers in each division and the overall male and female first- and second-place runners. Campbellsville Schools Developmental Basketball League sign-ups set for Nov. 15 and 17
Sign-ups for Campbellsville Schools Developmental Basketball League for grades K-5 will be Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m.-noon and Monday, Nov. 17 from 5-7 p.m. in Campbellsville High School’s Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
The cost is $30 for each boy and girl participant with each receiving a T-shirt and secondary insurance coverage. The cost is $50 for two participants from the same family. There will be one practice and one game (on Sunday afternoons) per week in the CMS multi-purpose room or high school gym.
The purpose of the league is to develop basic fundamental basketball skills: dribbling, passing, shooting, screening, footwork, etc. Participants will be grouped based on age, grade and ability level. The league will be directed by program coordinator/CHS head boys’ basketball coach Tim Davis (403-2671) and other CHS coaches and players.
