Taylor County SPCA is working with Pointer Rescue Organization to transport local animals to out-of-state rescue groups.

According to the local SPCA group, pilots give of their time and money to transport the animals via plane to destinations that would be difficult to travel to on land.

Taylor County's SPCA group has helped move more than 40 animals from the Taylor County Animal Shelter to rescue groups in the past months.

Rescue organizations in Kentucky and other states contact the SPCA to arrange transports.

Expenses for taking the animals to a veterinarian, pull fees and adoption fees are paid by rescue groups, and the transports are usually done by volunteers.

Volunteers also pay for the cost of gas and donations to the Taylor County SPCA help with expenses. The SPCA is a nonprofit organization and donations to it can be used as a tax deduction.
