Campbellsville native Theresa Haskins Smith has been selected as the 2008 Support Person of the Year by the Louisville Education and Employment Partnership.

A 1972 graduate of Campbellsville High School, Smith is a home school coordinator for Fairdale High School MCA in Louisville. She also oversees the Title V program.

LEEP is a job program that encourages students to remain in school and improve their academic performance. In return, students who graduate will receive opportunities for employment or continued education. In June 1986, the national Alliance of Businesses joined with employers and educators in seven selected cities around the country to launch the Compact Project - a nationwide program to develop increased academic performance and job prospects for at-risk youth. Each community was encouraged to shape its own programs based on local conditions and employers are asked to pledge job opportunities.

Smith's job is to provide support services of an academic and behavioral nature that encourages and promotes student success.

She currently teaches ACT/SAT prep classes along with sharing informational trends in education.

Smith is the daughter of William and Joann Haskins.
