Taylor Countians could see severe weather starting late afternoon today, Thursday, Feb. 20.
According to a news release from Ronnie Dooley, public information coordinator for Taylor County Emergency Management, thunderstorms are expected during the late afternoon and evening hours. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are the greatest threats.
Dooley stated that thunderstorms will exit southern Indiana and Central Kentucky after
Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph are likely tonight. The extent of damaging winds is expected to be large.
Also, Dooley stated, recent snowmelt has led to very soggy ground. Therefore, the high wind threat with the squall line could result in higher than normal numbers of trees and branches coming down.
Isolated tornadoes embedded within the squall line will be possible late Thursday afternoon and evening.
