It wasn't as bad as many had feared. Though it leaves SEEK funding intact, Gov. Steve Beshear's 2008-2009 budget proposal still doles out cuts in education.
Initial rumors predicted a 4 percent reduction in Support Education Excellence in Kentucky, the main funding source for public schools.
"The conversations concerning SEEK made me very anxious," said Campbellsville Independent Superintendent Diane Woods-Ayers. "The big question was how [the Kentucky Department of Education] was going to make this reduction."
