Jenna Hurt played high school and collegiate tennis, high school soccer and travel softball. However, Jenna Blandford competes in triathlons and marathons, including last Monday’s Boston Marathon.
Blandford, who now lives in Louisville and is a physical therapist, had run in five or six marathons (including Derby Marathon) and some triathlons, made the trip to New England with her boyfriend, “who offered support.
“It’s always been a goal,” Blandford said by phone last week. “When I started I wasn’t close for a qualifying time.
“But, this has been a goal of mine and I ran a 3:20.
“I really didn’t know anyone (before I got here), but I did see some people I knew from Louisville.”
Blandford said she was not apprehensive about running in the Boston Marathon after the tragedy from the bombings in 2013.
“Maybe I should have been more nervous,” Blandford said. “But, it was a good time.
“There were so many people there and the city basically shuts down.”

• Blandford is a 2003 Campbellsville High School graduate and the daughter of Kenny and Wanda Hurt. She played collegiate tennis and graduated from Bellarmine University in 2007, where she won over 50  matches.
