Taylor County made it eight straight first-round wins and 12 in the last 13 years with a 62-41 victory over Campbellsville on Tuesday night in Columbia.
The Cardinals (15-14) trailed 7-3 after Eagle freshman A.J. Vaught hit a pair of 3-pointers. However, Taylor County, which led 29-24 at half-time, tallied the first nine points of the third quarter and never led by less than double digits from there.
Cards’ freshman Quentin Goodin tallied 16 of his game-high 26 points in the first half while Caleb Wigginton had nine of his 17 early in the third frame. Goodin also had 11 assists while Wigginton grabbed 10 rebounds.
Senior Bradley Bates had 13 for CHS (13-18) and Vaught 11.
