Rothenburger for Ag Commissioner

-A A +A

I am writing to acknowledge my support for Shelby County Judge/Executive Rob Rothenburger for Kentucky's next Agriculture Commissioner and to ask for your support.

As a former magistrate with the Shelby County Fiscal Court, I had the privilege of serving with Rob for eight years. During that time, I have witnessed how he has been able to work extremely well with all the elected officials and move our county, county services and the various programs forward even during these most challenging times. He has also opened the lines of communication between county government and the residents of our community.

Since being elected judge/executive in 2003, Rob has balanced the $17 to $19 million annual county budget without cutting services or furloughing employees.

Rob's background is extensive, including growing up and working on a small dairy and tobacco farm, as a former fire chief/paramedic and serving as our county's highest elected official. Rob and his wife continue to farm in Shelby County raising beef cattle and hay.

Rob's platform is to be a strong advocate for our farmers and families.

  • Oppose unnecessary/unproven regulations proposed by federal and state government goals; help to keep Kentucky farms profitable, keep prices low at the grocery store while keeping our food supply safe.
  • Host monthly regional meetings open to farmers, processors and consumers to distribute information and to address any issues involving the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
  • Help to support farmers transitioning into areas such as agritourism, processing, fibers and fuels and organic markets.
  • Increase agriculture-related jobs by working with the Governor's office, Department of Local Government, the Cabinet of Economic Development, the Department of Travel and private organizations to retain and expand agriculture-related jobs throughout the state.
  • Support and expand the Kentucky Proud Program by continuing to support the existing Kentucky Proud Programs.
  • Increase distribution of Kentucky Proud farm products by developing new markets.

If you want a fiscally conservative Commissioner of Agriculture, vote for Rob Rothenburger on May 17.
