Campbellsville resident Carolyn Ogden recently won an award for a painting she entered in a competition at the Kentucky State Fair. The Whip Mix Corp. sponsors a purchase award for a watercolor painting each year.

Ogden's painting was entitled "Washday in April." It is of a photograph of her grandmother, Mary Eva Phillips Wise, taken in the 1940s.

Ogden has two sons, Todd Parker of Louisville and Kent Parker of Campbellsville, and four grandchildren. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2005.

She began painting in 1994 and studied with Billie Sue Kibbons through 2007. Since then, she has taken various art classes at Campbellsville University as a senior scholar.

Ogden has won a third-place award at Cow Days in Greensburg in 2001, a third premium at the state fair in 2008, a first-place award at Cow Days in 2008, a first-place award at Lincoln Days in 2008, a second-place award at Cow Days in 2010 and a second-place award at Cow Days in 2011.
