Resident charged with theft

A Campbellsville resident has been arrested and charged as one of two people who allegedly stole a fishing boat.

According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, deputies received a report on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. that two people driving a red pickup truck had stolen a fishing boat from a home on Old Lebanon Road.

About an hour later, the report states, the two returned to the home and attempted to steal another boat, but were confronted by the owner.

Deputies later found the suspects' vehicle on Anna Court.

An investigation identified the two suspects and the boat was recovered at a home on Carnation Street.

Michael W. Johnson, 24, of 220 Carnation St., was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking. He was lodged at the Taylor County Detention Center.

The report states that additional charges and arrests are pending.

Taylor County Sheriff's Deputy Ricky Underwood is continuing the investigation.
