A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with stealing a box full of jewelry.
According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office news release, deputies were dispatched on Saturday at about 5 p.m. to a report of a theft from a home on A. Cox Road.
The report states that the caller told deputies she found Christopher Johnson, 24, of A. Cox Road in Elk Horn, in a building on her property with a lock box that he had allegedly taken from her home. The caller said after she caught Johnson with the box, he dropped it and left.
The report states that deputies looked at the box and found that the lock on it had been forced open and there were several pieces of jewelry missing.
Deputies found Johnson at another home on A. Cox Road. After an interview, Johnson admitted to stealing the jewelry and he was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking more than $500.
Johnson was lodged at the Taylor County Detention Center.
