Resident arrested, charged with second DUI

A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with his second DUI offense.

Tory T. Smith, 32, of 329 Beartrack Road, was arrested Saturday, July 13, at 8:38 p.m.

According to Smith's arrest citation, Campbellsville Police received a call reporting a fight at All-Star Food Mart on KY 70. Smith was allegedly involved, court records state.

Records state that, when Officer Ben Riggs approached Smith's vehicle, Smith smelled of alcohol, had red, glassy eyes and slurred his speech.

When searching the car, Riggs wrote, he saw a spoon inside with a white substance inside it that tested positive for cocaine.

Smith admitted to Riggs that he had driven to All-Star. He also admitted to drinking a beer an hour before he had driven.

When taken to Taylor County Detention Center, records state, Smith became belligerent and had to be placed in a chair.

Smith was charged with DUI, his second offense, and first-degree possession of cocaine.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges in Taylor District Court on Monday, July 15.

He was appointed a public defender and bond was set at $1,000 unsecured. Smith was ordered to not consume any drugs or alcohol or drive. He was appointed a public defender and ordered to report to pretrial services personnel and submit to random drug screenings.

Smith is scheduled to appear in court again Wednesday.
