A Campbellsville woman has been arrested and charged with abusing a child.
Debra Lee Elliott, 25, of 101 Sunset Drive, was arrested Sunday, Dec. 2, at 5:13 p.m.
According to Elliott's arrest warrant, she allegedly caused serious injury to a child younger than 12 on Sept. 4 or placed the child in a situation that could have caused harm. Campbellsville Police Officer Charles Houk investigated.
Elliott was charged with first-degree criminal abuse, a Class C felony punishable by as much as 10 years in prison.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge in Taylor District Court on Monday, Dec. 3. She was appointed a public defender and bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.
Elliott was ordered to not have contact with the alleged victim. She is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday.
