Taylor County Public Library

Do you have a little extra time to read with all these spring rain storms? Here are some popular reads at the Taylor County Public Library.

  • Adult fiction - "Tick Tock" by James Patterson, "44 Charles Street" by Danielle Steel, "Sing You Home" by Jodi Picoult, "The Sixth Man" by David Baldacci, "The Jungle" by Clive Cussler, "Live Wire" by Harlan Coben and "Night Road" by Kristin Hannah.
  • Adult non-fiction - "Decision Points" by George W. Bush and "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption" by Laura Hillenbrand.
  • Junior/young adult - "Hunger Games Series" by Suzanne Collins, "Vampire Academy Series" by Richelle Mead, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series" by Jeff Kinney and "Spa Girls Novels" by Kristen Billerbeck.

Hey kids, want something creative to do during all this rainy weather? The library and The Friends of the Taylor County Public Library are hosting the fourth annual art display/contest for children. Entries should be based on a favorite book.

Children in preschool through 12th grade are encouraged to show off their artistic ability. There will be age/grade categories with prizes.

All appropriate artwork will be displayed at the library. The artwork is to be based on their favorite book.

The artwork may be done on paper or canvas no larger than 15x11. You may use crayons, pencils, watercolors, markers or other paints. No dioramas or framed artwork will be accepted.

On the back of the artwork, include the child's name, address, phone number, age, grade and title of book that the artwork is based upon.

The deadline is Wednesday, June 1.

For questions, call me at the library at 465-2562 or Kathy Maynard at 469-3967. We look forward to some wonderful artwork just like in years past.
