The visiting team dominates the Campbellsville University-University of Pikeville football series and the trend remained the same as the visiting Bears upended the home-standing Fighting Tigers 14-7 on Saturday night.
Campbellsville struck first in the opener for both teams as southpaw quarterback Bryan Parnes went around right end from 33 yards out with 8:57 left in the opening quarter.
Freshman Eric Krivitsky’s point-after kick would prove to be the last Tiger point.
Pikeville knotted the score with 1:51 left in the first frame on a six-yard run and PAT and then took the lead for good by scoring the game’s final points on a 24-yard pass play with 11:26 left in the second period.
Parnes led the Tigers in rushing with 53 yards while Seth McFerrin added 49.
Back-up quarterback Robert Hill passed for 59 of CU’s 72 yards with Demetric Ray, Adam Robertson and Demytreus Gipson having two catches apiece.
Nick Reed was the top Tiger tackler with 10 hits while Earl McCann was in on nine, Blake Young eight and Brendan Walker, who had an interception, seven.
Campbellsville hosts the second of three straight home tilts when the Tigers entertain Union (Ky.) College on Saturday (7:00).
