How do you a keep a secret for a month in small town? Ask Campbellsville Mayor Tony
Young and the Taylor County Tennis Association and community because they seem to know the formula.
Word was leaked out about a month or so ago. But, evidently David Parsons was not in that loop. And, as the time grew closer to the 8:30 start, it seemed as if Parsons knew and was again shying away from any publicity.
Young’s announcement of the naming of the David Parsons Tennis Complex was the first sign of what was really going on to the former Taylor County High School and Campbellsville University
coach even after former player Darren Childers had brought him to the courts.
•On the courts that now bear his name, David Parsons coached Taylor County to a region championship team and had John Miller qualify in singles and Darren Childers and Daniel Gaddis in doubles for state competition. His Campbellsville University teams also had national appearances by Freddie Schwan, Vladimir Zidjavic and Kenton Witmer in singles and Kevin Merritt and W.D. McCubbin in doubles.
