A motorcycle accident on Barney School Road last Thursday afternoon resulted in the death of a Campbellsville man.

Bobby Veatch, 46, of Campbellsville, passed away at Taylor Regional Hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident, which occurred just a little before 4 p.m. Thursday.

A report from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office states that Veatch, operating a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle, was traveling on Barney School Road in the opposite direction of a 2018 Fed-Ex truck driven by 24-year-old Cody Stockwell of Guston, Kentucky.

The operator of the Fed-Ex truck told deputies that he did not see Veatch approaching and began to make a left turn across the opposite lane.

The report states that Veatch attempted to brake but struck the front passenger tire of the truck.

A helicopter was called and landed at the scene, but the TCSO report states that Veatch was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital by Taylor County EMS.

Veatch was pronounced deceased by Taylor County Coroner Daniel Cook at Taylor Regional Hospital.

Stockwell and a passenger in his vehicle were uninjured in the accident.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Houk and Campbellsville and Taylor County Fire Departments responded and assisted at the scene.

The investigation is open and ongoing.
