Campbellsville University downed Union (Ky.) College 12-6 on Wednesday in a battle of Top 10 nationally-rated baseball teams.
Senior Marc Wilson, who entered the game with a perfect 7-0 pitching record, held the Bulldogs scoreless until the third when Union put up five runs to take a 5-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Nick Bertolucci led off with a drag bunt before Tyler Derby and Chris Curley got walks to load the bases.
Brian Chase blooped a single to shallow right to plate a run and Jimmy Voelker laced the first pitch into the left-center gap, closing the gap to 5-4.
Alex Ponich's fielder's choice tied the game before Zach Townsend reached on an infield single to put CU back in front 6-5. Bertolucci capped the inning with an opposite-field home run just inside the left-field foul pole.
Bryan Fuller pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the win with Spencer Frantz tossing the final two frames.
The Tigers added three more insurance runs to improve to 32-8 on the season.
Bertolucci finished 4-4 with three RBI while Chase was 4-5 with three runs and Voelker also was 4-5 with four RBI.
The Mid-South Conference Tourney began with two play-in games on Saturday. Campbellsville University, the top seed, started play on Sunday with a game against the West Virginia Tech-Lindsey Wilson victor. With a win, the Tigers play today at noon. A win there would give them a home game for the title on Friday or Saturday.
