Campbellsville native Denise Skaggs, instructional supervisor and former LaRue County Intermediate School principal, has been named interim principal at LaRue County Middle School, according to Superintendent Sam Sanders.

She welcomed students back to school after winter break on Jan. 2.

She takes over for Bob Bright, who resigned effective Dec. 31. Bright, who served as principal since 2010, has accepted a position as CEO/executive director of the National Beta Club. He and his wife, Kay, plan to move to Spartanburg, N.C.

Skaggs served four years as principal of LCIS and one year as assistant principal at the middle school. She has also served as a curriculum resource consultant and interim principal at Nelson County High School. Skaggs also worked for the Campbellsville Independent School System.

The LCMS Site-Based Decision Making Council is currently searching for a principal. The anticipated schedule for naming the new principal is after the completion of interviews on Jan. 24.
