Jordan Myers’ base-line three-point jumper on a feed from Cedric Henderson was the game-winner as Campbellsville University edged the University of Pikeville 58-57 on Thursday night in the Powell Athletic Center.
The Tigers, 17-8 overall and 6-6 in the Mid-South Conference, led 30-24 at the half before the visitors knotted the score at 50-50 with 4:29 left on two Chris McHenry free throws.
CU used a Jonas Bohm lay-up on a Reggie Smith pass and Henderson’s three-point play to lead 55-52 with 2:25 left.
However, Josh Whitaker had a steal and lay-up at 1:33 and McHenry nailed a top-of-the-key trey to put the Bears up 57-55 with 30 ticks left.
Henderson led CU with 12 points, five assists and five steals while Bohm, Justin Ennis and Malik Thomas had 10 points apiece. Bohm and Thomas also had eight rebounds each.
McHenry led all scorers with 22 points for No. 22-rated Pikeville (15-9, 7-6).
Campbellsville hosted Virginia-Wise over the weekend and will entertain No. 10-rated Mountain State (West Va.) on Tuesday (7:00).
