Campbellsville Mayor Tony Young and Yevette Haskins attended the National Association of Development Organizations Conference in Washington, D.C., on March 10-13.
While attending the conference, Young and Haskins visited the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial. Later in the week, they met with Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and other congressmen on Capitol Hill to discuss the needs of Campbellsville and Central Kentucky.
The National Association of Development Organizations provides advocacy, education, research and training for the nation's regional development organizations. The association and its members promote regional strategies, partnerships and solutions to strengthen the economic competitiveness and quality of life across America's local communities.
Young and Haskins serve on the Lake Cumberland Area Development District Executive Committee.
The Lake Cumberland Area Development District serves Taylor, Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell and Wayne counties.
The LCADD is a quasi-governmental agency working with city governments, county governments and special districts within the 10-county Lake Cumberland Region to improve the quality of life for the region's residents.
