Campbellsville High School’s boys fought back from a game-long deficit to grab the lead only to see Marion County’s DeShawn Douglas drain a three with less than eight seconds left for a 41-39 Knight win in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium on Friday night.
The Eagles had out-scored the visitors 10-2 in the final quarter before Douglas’ trey proved to be the game winner.
Jordan Percell paced Campbellsville with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Douglas led Marion County with 13 and Carlos Litsey added 11.
Neither squad shot well from the field as Marion County missed 29 of 43 shots (32.6 percent) and Campbellsville was 11-35 (31.4).
The loss was CHS’ second in two games this season with Marion County and dropped the Eagles’ district record to 1-2. The Knights are 2-1 with a loss to Adair County (2-0) while Taylor County is 0-2.
The Eagles visit Green County in a first-round game in the Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic. Monday’s victor plays the Fort Knox at Washington County survivor on Friday at Caverna. The championship game is set for Saturday.
