Marching Cards earn a second place at Ohio County

Taylor County Marching Cardinals participated in the 54th annual Marching Eagle Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Ohio County High School in Hartford, Ky.

In the preliminary round of competition, the Cardinals received second place and the best percussion award in Class AAA. Muhlenberg North was first place and Breckinridge County third.

Taylor County's percussion section received the trophy for best overall percussion among the 12 bands competing. The percussion section has had the highest score at each of its five contests this year.

In the evening's finals competition, Taylor County received fourth place overall. Daviess County was named grand champion and scored the only distinguished rating. Muhlenberg North was reserve grand champion and Henderson County was third.

Other bands in order of finish were Muhlenberg South, Cumberland County, Breckinridge County, McLean County, Owensboro Apollo, Hancock County, Owensboro Catholic and Christian Academy of Louisville.

After taking a weekend off for fall break, the band will host the Taylor County Marching Invitational this Saturday. Opening ceremony is at 1:30 p.m. Taylor County Marching Cards and Campbellsville University will perform at 9 and 9:15 p.m., respectively. Final awards will be presented at 9:30 p.m.
