Man charged with stealing cattle

A Bradfordsville man has been arrested and charged with stealing nearly $20,000 worth of cattle.
According to a Taylor County Sheriff’s Office report, it was reported to deputies on June 5 that 17 calves and a bull were missing from a farm on Lemons Bend Road in Taylor County, valued at more than $19,000. Later in the investigation, the report states, it was discovered that a firearm was missing from a building on the farm.
After a seven-week investigation, sheriff’s deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Shawn Crabtree, 20, of 508 E. Main St. The report states that Crabtree was arrested in Marion County on Tuesday.
Sheriff’s deputies interviewed Crabtree and charged him with theft by unlawful taking more than $500 and first-degree burglary. He was lodged at the Taylor County Detention Center on a $20,000 cash bond. Taylor County Sheriff Allen Newton and Taylor Co-unty Sheriff’s Deputy Dickie Benningfield investigated.
