Man accused of assaulting jail staff

A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly assaulted jail staff while in custody at the Taylor County Detention Center.

Aaron Gibson, 24, of 352 W. Broadway, Apt. 6, was arrested Jan. 25 at 5:09 p.m.

According to Gibson's arrest citation, he was originally arrested and charged with assaulting a woman by throwing her on a bed and choking her.

Court records state that, while en route to the detention center, Gibson beat his head against equipment in a Campbellsville Police car and was extremely aggressive when being booked at the jail.

Gibson allegedly head butted a jail staff member in the chest while he was being handcuffed.

Gibson was charged with fourth-degree assault of the woman, second-degree disorderly conduct and third-degree assault of the jail staff member.

The assault charge against the jail staff member is a Class D felony punishable by as much as five years in prison.

Gibson pleaded not guilty to the charges in Taylor District Court on Jan. 28. Bond was set at $10,000 cash.

He was appointed a public defender and is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday.
