Counting down from a minute, the runners hold their cups steady. At 1, they splash everyone in sight.

Donna Wise, Will Patton, Katie Irwin and Jenny Jessie hosted the first Color to Conquer 5K Walk and Run on Saturday morning, with money raised going toward the annual St. Baldrick’s fundraiser to support children’s cancer research.

Runners paid entry fees and donations were accepted. Participants were “splashed” at two color stations as they ran and walked through the course.

At the end of the race, a finale “splash” brought the nearly 500 participants together.

St. Baldrick’s is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Campbellsville University’s Powell Athletic Center. Participants get pledges to shave their heads to honor children who have fought cancer.

To register, visit www.stbaldricks.org and search for Campbellsville. Registration forms are also available at The Green Room, Campbellsville Apparel and Campbellsville University’s Hawkins Athletic Complex.
